A FedEx freight driver was arrested on Tuesday after allegedly stealing more than $31,000 worth of Apple products while making deliveries in South Florida, authorities said.<\/p>\n

Michael Turro-Cabrera, 43, was charged with grand theft and organized fraud.<\/p>\n

According to authorities, on Nov. 28 and 29, FedEx Freight suffered two separate thefts of Apple products that were assigned to Turro-Cabrera so that they could be delivered to retail stores.<\/p>\n

An arrest report said the thefts were reported on Dec. 18 after Apple confirmed shortages that amounted to $22,506.28 on Nov. 28 and $8,658.20 on Nov. 29.<\/p>\n

Turro-Cabrera was then fired from FedEx on Dec.18 for policy violations, the report said. An internal investigation revealed that there were unexplained extended stops and time clock manipulation during the same dates when the thefts were reported.<\/p>\n

Authorities said surveillance video shows a pickup truck backing up to Turro-Cabrera’s trailer during those unauthorized stops in Pinecrest, where the stolen merchandise was allegedly transferred.<\/p>\n

During their investigation, detectives said that GPS data and phone records linked Turro-Cabrera to a second suspect who is still on the run.<\/p>\n

That second suspect, the report said, was a former FedEx employee who was fired after working with the company for eight years.<\/p>\n

The investigation revealed that Turro-Cabrera engaged in a scheme to defraud FedEx by working with the other suspect to steal the Apple products, the report said.<\/p>\n

Turro-Cabrera arrived at the Medley Police station on Tuesday and was arrested.<\/p>\n

A FedEx contractor was also arrested last week after being accused of stealing Nike merchandise. <\/p>\n
