A man accused in a hit-and-run crash in Miami that left a pedestrian in critical condition was arrested on Monday, authorities said.<\/p>\n

Stephen Campos, 45, was charged with leaving the scene of a crash with serious bodily injury.<\/p>\n

According to the Miami Police, officers arrived at the intersection of Northwest 37th Avenue and 36th Street after a crash involving a Lexus and a pedestrian who was on an electric stand-up scooter.<\/p>\n

An arrest report said that the Lexus was traveling northbound on Northwest 37th Avenue and was heading to Southwest 36th Street when there was a red light. The pedestrian was heading eastbound on Northwest 36th Street, and he struck the Lexus that failed to stop at the red light.<\/p>\n

After the pedestrian was struck, the Lexus fled the scene without helping the pedestrian, the report said.<\/p>\n

The pedestrian, the report said, was then taken to the hospital in critical condition.<\/p>\n

Following the incident, Campos returned to the scene of the crash after being driven by his wife, and he flagged down an officer, the report said.<\/p>\n

Campos, the report said, told the officer that he was leaving the casino when he noticed his vehicle’s windshield was shattered, and he thought it was because someone had thrown a rock at his car. He kept driving to his house, talked about it with his wife and then returned to the scene.<\/p>\n

An officer then went to the home, and Campos’ wife said he told her what had happened, the report said.<\/p>\n

Campos was then taken to the Miami Police station, where he told the same story of a rock being thrown at his windshield, and he was arrested.<\/p>\n
