A man accused of hitting someone in the back of the head with a baseball bat after a fight broke out between two teams at a park in Aventura was arrested on Sunday, authorities said.<\/p>\n

Roberto Araujo, 41, was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, Miami-Dade Jail records showed.<\/p>\n

According to Aventura Police, on Sunday, an officer arrived at Waterways Park after receiving reports of a fight with injuries.<\/p>\n

An arrest report said a Be on the Lookout alert was issued for a suspect who fled the area in a white Buick that was last seen going west on Northeast 213 Street toward Biscayne Boulevard.<\/p>\n

As another officer was on their way to the park, they conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that matched the description of the BOLO, and the driver, identified as Araujo, was detained, the report said.<\/p>\n

Soon after, the report said, the officer arrived at the park and spoke to the victim, who was sweating and had a contusion on the back of his head, which had a small amount of blood.<\/p>\n

The victim told the officer that when he was playing in a softball league game at the park, there was a verbal dispute that broke out between the two teams, and several players started to shove and push each other, the report said.<\/p>\n

During the incident, the victim said that Araujo grabbed a bat and swung it at him, which hit him in the head, the report said. The victim was then taken to the hospital for treatment.<\/p>\n

Officers then spoke with a witness who saw the fight and saw Araujo grabbing the bat and swinging it towards the victim’s head, the report said.<\/p>\n

Surveillance video reviewed by police captured the fight and corroborated the victim’s and the witness’ statements that Araujo grabbed the bat and hit the victim’s head with it, the report said.<\/p>\n

Araujo was then arrested and taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.<\/p>\n
