A brush fire in western Miami-Dade County had burned thousands of acres by Wednesday morning while a second blaze worsens the smoky conditions. <\/p>\n

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials said crews responded to the Quarry Fire in the area of Northwest 137th Avenue and Northwest 25th Street shortly before 3 p.m. Monday.<\/p>\n

That blaze has burned 4,050 acres and is 30% contained as of Tuesday night, according to the Florida Forest Service. A second fire, the Wall Fire, has burned 500 acres and is 25% contained as of Tuesday night. <\/p>\n

No injuries have been reported, but people with respiratory conditions in the area were advised to stay indoors and recirculate the air from their air conditioners.<\/p>\n

How to stay safe amid smoky conditions<\/h2>\n

The smell of smoke has been consistent since the fires started, and some residents in western Broward County awoke Wednesday to ash on their cars. Near the fires, thick smoke clouds the sky. <\/p>\n

According to the AirNow Fire and Smoke Map, the air quality is unhealthy in the areas closest to the fire, including Hialeah, Opa-locka, Miramar and more. Areas a bit further north, like Davie, are experiencing moderate air quality. <\/p>\n
