Surveillance video captured the moment when deputies arrived at the home of a veteran Miami Fire captain who is accused of grabbing his wife and slapping her with a cellphone.<\/p>\n

Maximo Vasquez, 43, was arrested Saturday on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery, strong-arm robbery and false imprisonment, according to jail records.<\/p>\n

In the surveillance video obtained exclusively by NBC6, Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies were seen arriving at Vasquez’s home at Southwest 163rd Street, armed with long guns and ordering him to get on the ground.<\/p>\n

\u201cGet on the ground,” a deputy was heard screaming. “Get on the [expletive] ground. Get on the ground.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to an arrest report, Vasquez allegedly assaulted his wife on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Investigators said he approached his wife with a hammer and threatened to smash the windows of her car.<\/p>\n

The report also stated that when the victim went back inside the home, Vasquez took her cellphone, pushed her down on a couch, slapped her repeatedly, and then hit her in the head with a phone.<\/p>\n

An anonymous call was then made to 911 about a disturbance, but the victim told deputies she was OK when they got there, the report said.<\/p>\n

Officials said that the next morning, she went to the hospital, and Vasquez was later arrested.<\/p>\n

Vasquez appeared in bond court on Monday, where a judge set his bond at $17,500 and ordered him to have no contact with the alleged victim, adding that he can’t possess firearms or other weapons.<\/p>\n

This was the second time Vasquez has been arrested in the last year.<\/p>\n

Body-worn camera video shows him in a heated exchange with deputies in June 2025.<\/p>\n

Did I tell you I did not want a report?” he said. My answer was go [expletive] yourself. Did I tell you I did want a report?”<\/p>\n

In that case, Vasquez was accused of assaulting a first responder while trying to report that his wife was missing.<\/p>\n

“My wife is missing,” he said. “This is all I get? Man [expletive] you, bro.”<\/p>\n

Court records show that the case was dropped after Vasquez completed an advocacy program.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for Miami Fire Rescue sent NBC6 the following statement:<\/p>\n

“The City of Miami Department of Fire Rescue has now made contact with the member and has placed the member on relieved-of-duty status pending the completion of both internal and external investigations.”<\/p>\n

Vasquez has since bonded out of jail.<\/p>\n

NBC6 spoke with his wife on Monday and Tuesday, who said she isn\u2019t doing well emotionally or mentally.<\/p>\n
