A Homestead police officer involved in a hit-and-run crash while intoxicated has pleaded guilty to four misdemeanor charges including reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident.<\/p>\n

Henry Quintero, 43, appeared in court on Friday to accept responsibility for the September 2025 crash.<\/p>\n

According to police, an officer arrived at East Palm Drive and U.S. 1 after receiving reports of a hit-and-run.<\/p>\n

An arrest report said that the officer met with the driver of a Ford Bronco who was traveling northbound on U.S. 1, approached the intersection of East Palm Drive, and while passing a green light at the intersection, a Honda CR-V that was speeding ran a red light and struck them.<\/p>\n

After the Bronco was struck, it overturned and collided with a Ford Mustang at the scene, the report said. The Honda stopped but then made a U-turn at the intersection and fled the scene.<\/p>\n

A passenger inside the Mustang suffered multiple lacerations to their arms and legs and was taken to the hospital.<\/p>\n

The report said that a witness saw the crash and started to follow the hit-and-run driver until they stopped. The witness then called the police and waited for officers to arrive.<\/p>\n

A second witness told officers that he was behind the Mustang when he saw the Honda run the red light and collide with the Bronco, the report said. A third witness provided officers with photos of the Honda.<\/p>\n

Traffic cameras in the area captured the chain of events, the report said.<\/p>\n

As police continued to investigate the hit-and-run, the third witness was able to point out Quintero as the driver of the Honda, the report said.<\/p>\n

When officers met with Quintero, there was a strong odor of alcohol coming from him, and he had bloodshot eyes, and his speech was slurred, the report said.<\/p>\n

With officers detecting signs of impairment, the report said, a DUI investigation was conducted, which Quintero refused to cooperate with, and he was arrested.<\/p>\n

During his arrest, Quintero claimed that he was cut off by a vehicle and that the crash wasn’t his fault, the report said.<\/p>\n

Quintero\u2019s Plea Deal<\/h2>\n

Quintero accepted a plea deal and was sentenced to two years of reporting probation, a $1,000 fine, and his license will be suspended for one year.<\/p>\n

Quintero will also need to attend driving school and do 100 community service hours.<\/p>\n

As of September, Quintero was relieved of duty without pay pending the outcome of the case.<\/p>\n
