The southbound lanes of the Sawgrass Expressway were completely shut down early Wednesday due to a crash involving multiple cars, authorities said.

The crash happened on the Sawgrass Expressway (State Road 869) at Sample Road in Broward County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
It was not immediately clear if anyone was injured.
The Florida Department of Transportation’s traffic website referred to it as a “multi-vehicle crash” that blocked lanes until Atlantic Boulevard.

The emergency response also shut down two northbound lanes.
Video shows trucks and debris all over the roadway as crews work to clean up the mess.
Drivers are being forced off at Sample Road. Take U.S. 441 or University Drive as an alternate route.
