The start of the Los Angeles Rams’ season has gone from bad to worse.
After getting blown out in their opener against the San Francisco 49ers in Australia, star pass-rusher Myles Garrett reportedly will undergo arthroscopic knee surgery.

The reigning Defensive Player of the Year will be placed on the injured reserve, meaning he’s out for a minimum of four games. Netflix and The Ringer’s Tom Pelissero first reported the news Sunday morning.
Garrett, 30, was acquired in a blockbuster offseason trade with the Cleveland Browns. He was ineffective in the Rams’ 27-7 Week 1 loss, posting no tackles in 40 defensive snaps.
Pelissero added that this surgery is related to the lower-leg pain that Garrett dealt with throughout training camp and the preseason, but “the hope” is that he returns after sitting out four weeks.

Garrett is the second star who changed teams this offseason to be placed on IR after Week 1. Patriots wide receiver A.J. Brown suffered a high ankle sprain in New England’s opener on Wednesday.
The Rams return home from Melbourne in Week 2 to face the New York Giants on Monday Night Football, when Aaron Donald could make his comeback. Garrett will also miss games against the Denver Broncos, Philadelphia Eagles and Buffalo Bills before he’s eligible to return against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 6.
