Firefighters first checked on the occupants, who were not hurt. But because of the elevator’s position, the department’s technical rescue team was called in.

“Miami-Dade Fire Rescue’s (MDFR) Technical Rescue Team (TRT) personnel are trained to use specialized rescue techniques to safely reach and remove individuals from confined, elevated or difficult-to-access spaces,” officials explained.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue did not immediately say whether the elevator that got stuck was located, or what caused it to malfunction.
