Officer Raymond Kerner, who served as a school resource officer at J.P. Taravella High School, was fired following the completion of an internal affairs investigation, Coral Springs Police said in a statement.
Kerner had served at the school for eight years, from 2013 to 2022, then retired from the department but returned in 2022 in a part-time capacity.
The investigation was launched after several women reported inappropriate behavior and conversations of a sexual nature involving Kerner during his time serving at the school, police said.

After the accusations were made, he was relieved of duty.
The investigation has been closed and Kerner was fired.
“Officer Kerner’s conduct is inexcusable. Wearing this badge gives an officer authority, but it also places great responsibility on that officer to exercise good judgement and protect the trust placed in us. That responsibility is especially important when an officer works with our youth,” Coral Springs Police Chief Brad Mock said in a statement. “Accountability matters. Transparency matters. We investigated these allegations, took immediate action, and now the investigation is closed. We will not hide from conduct that falls short of what this department and our community expects.”
Mock said it’s possible there could be others who had similar experiences and never reported them, and he encouraged them to come forward.
“Given the nature of the information uncovered during this investigation, I recognize there may be others who have had similar experiences and never reported them,” he said. “I want them to know that they can come forward and they will be heard.”
