An employee of a state juvenile justice facility in Broward was arrested for the alleged sexual battery of an inmate, authorities said.

Jess Delgardo, 32, was arrested Monday on charges of sexual battery by a person in position of authority and sexual misconduct between detention facility employees and inmates, Broward Sheriff’s Office officials said.
Officials said they received a report on Sunday of a possible sexual battery at the Pompano Youth Academy, a Florida Department of Juvenile Justice facility, located at 3090 North Powerline Road.

Deputies and Special Victims Unit detectives responded to investigate, leading to the arrest of Delgardo, officials said.
It’s unknown what position Delgardo held at the facility. Online records show Pompano Youth Academy is is a
“moderate-risk” residential facility for females ages 13-18.
