The incident happened the afternoon of Aug. 23 along the 7900 block of Northwest 1st Street.

“Oh my God, somebody just got struck by lightning!” a screaming woman said in one of the 911 calls obtained by NBC6 on Tuesday.

“A lady and her baby just got struck by lightning. They’re down,” another caller said.

Margate Police said officers and fire rescue crews responded after receiving a call that the victims were found lying on a sidewalk.

“I heard somebody yelling and I jumped up and there was a big, a woman and a baby on the ground. They looked like they were getting out of the car and it’s lighting really bad,” a woman said in one of the other calls. “The people are losing their mind. That’s why I’m on the phone with you. They’re on the ground. There’s a baby and a woman.”

“Oh my God please, God, Jesus please, protect this family, give them the strength,” the woman is heard saying later in the call.

At the scene, officers and crews found the mother and her daughter and started performing CPR, but both died shortly after arriving at local hospitals.

Police identified the mother as 31-year-old Kenya Glasgow. The father, Kameron Glasgow, identified the girl as Kennedi and said she had a twin sister, Kensli.

Kameron Glasgow said he was standing just feet away from his wife and child when they were struck. Kensli was still in the car when it happened.

He said they had just arrived for dinner at his aunt’s house when the weather worsened and they tried to rush inside, but didn’t make it. He was close enough to feel the surge in his legs.

“The worst feeling in the world and to turn around and see your wife and daughter there lifeless, even worse,” Glasgow said.

The couple would have celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary in November.

The deaths are the third and fourth lightning fatalities in Florida this year, according to the National Weather Service in Miami.
