Amy Arlene Baker, 43, was arrested Saturday after the altercation, which happened while she, her husband and kids were driving northbound on Interstate 95 toward State Road 810, according to an arrest report from the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
The couple were returning from a party in Fort Lauderdale when they started arguing personal issues and problems in their relationship, the report said.
The husband told deputies that during the argument, Baker called him derogatory names and a homophobic slur. When he retorted, “Who is the one with a felony?” the husband said Baker struck him in the face with an open hand, the report said.
Baker then grabbed his face with both hands and bit into his right ear with her teeth, tearing off a portion of it, the report said. The husband said he was bleeding and in shock and drove to the nearest hospital.

Their two children, ages 7 and 1, were present when the incident occurred, the report said.
Baker told responding deputies at the hospital that her husband struck her and told her to “shut up” during the argument. She said she became frustrated and lost control before biting his ear, the report said. The husband denied hitting Baker.
Baker faces charges of aggravated battery causing great bodily harm and two counts of child neglect for “committing the aggravated battery in front of both her children, causing possible mental distress,” the report said.
