Maykel Mulet-Sanchez, 28, was arrested Monday on charges of DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide in a reckless manner, Miami-Dade jail records showed.
Miami Police responded to the crash at the intersection of 60th Avenue and W. Flagler Street back on April 18.
According to an arrest report, Mulet-Sanchez was driving a Hyundai Sonata and was speeding as he approached the intersection and collided with a Honda Accord.
After the impact the Sonata went onto a sidewalk and through some bushes before hitting the wall of a nearby apartment complex, the report said.
The driver of the Accord was hospitalized and later died from their injuries.
At the scene, a Miami Fire Rescue worker was treating Mulet-Sanchez’s injuries and noted a strong odor of alcohol, the report said.

Mulet-Sanchez was hospitalized with a possible fractured jaw, and the front passenger of the Sonata was hospitalized and confirmed Mulet-Sanchez was the driver, the report said.
Blood samples were taken from Mulet-Sanchez and tested, and came back at .113, above Florida’s legal limit of .08, the report said.
The report said he also tested positive for Delta-9-THC.
The Sonata’s event data recorder showed it was going 74 mph five seconds before the crash and accelerating, reaching a speed of 83 mph about one second before the crash, on a street where the posted speed limit is 40 mph, the report said.
At the time of the impact with the other vehicle the Sonata was estimated to be going 73 mph, the report said.
Mulet-Sanchez was arrested and booked into jail. He appeared before a judge on Tuesday who set his bond at $20,000 with house arrest, adding that he can go to work but can’t drive.
