Kolei McKinney, 41, had been dating the victim for about eight months, an arrest report said.
The confrontation happened on July 17. The victim told police they were both driving in separate cars when McKinney started driving erratically.
She then asked him to pull over, and he entered her car, which was when he pulled out a gun and pointed it towards the windshield, the report said. She also told investigators he began choking her.

McKinney’s attorney said the victim is lying and was fueled by anger that McKinney ended their relationship.
“The alleged victim vowed to take revenge against him because of the breakup, and she did so by fabricating these allegations against him,” attorney Stephan Lopez said in a statement in part. “Officer McKinney is a good officer and Navy veteran, a man of good character who fell prey to this woman.”
McKinney also faces charges of aggravated assault with a firearm. He posted bond on Friday.
