A woman was arrested after she was accused of operating an illegal post-cosmetic surgery recovery home in Cutler Bay, authorities said.

Sandra Elvira-Paez, 44, was arrested on charges including operating an assisted living facility without a license, practicing medicine without a license, practicing massage without a license, hazardous waste violation, nuisances injurious to health, and failure to track biomedical waste, an arrest report said.
The arrest was made after the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Medical Crimes Unit executed a search warrant on Thursday at a home in the 8900 block of Southwest 215th Lane.
Inside the home investigators found three patients, two employees and Elvira-Paez, along with four beds and five recliners for patients recovering from cosmetic surgery, the report said.
All of the patients were interviewed and said they’d been receiving help with bathing, dressing, eating, personal hygiene, using the bathroom and taking medication, the report said.
The patients said they also received massages and said Elvira-Paez injected them with anti-coagulant medication, the report said.

Elvira-Paez told an investigator she had a massage license in Colombia but not in Florida, and admitted to giving patients massages and injections, despite the fact that she’s not licensed to perform medical services or massages, the report said.
The patients said they paid $300 to $450 per night to stay at the home and receive services, the report said.
One employee said she was paid $1,080 weekly to work at the home, while the other employee, Elvira-Paez’s son, said he was responsible for transporting the patients to and from their surgical appointments, the report said.
While conducting the search warrant, another patient arrived at the home but left after learning that the home wasn’t licensed to care for her.

In addition, investigators said they found biohazardous waste at the home.
Elvira-Paez was booked into jail. Attorney information wasn’t available.
