The ground stop was lifted, but lines grew at Miami International Airport as passengers worked to rebook and refund their flights.
“A technology issue briefly impacted connectivity for some of our systems on Tuesday evening. Systems are coming back online now and flights are departing again,” an American Airlines spokesperson said. “We put a temporary ground stop in place while our teams worked to resolve the issue. We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience.”
Travelers like Adam Cohen and his family said this also impacted the company’s mobile apps and check-in counters

“We got here on time, but we couldn’t check in because the check-in system was down, so we missed our flight,” he said. “They gave us another flight to Baltimore, but we are trying to get to Jersey City, and then that flight was canceled.”
Hundreds of customers waited at the airline customer service counter Tuesday for answers.
It is unclear how long it will take for American Airlines’ services to be fully restored.
