Staff at a Tamarac hospital dealt with a tense moment after a man punched two employees and pointed a gun at them, deputies said.

According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, on July 20, deputies arrived at HCA Florida Woodmont Hospital after receiving reports of a person with a weapon.

Deputies said 29-year-old Mark Anthony Bernard blamed hospital staff for his mother’s death.

After punching two employees, Bernard fled the hospital, but was later arrested at his home, where investigators said they found a handgun and an AR-15 rifle in his car.

He faces several charges, including aggravated assault and two counts of battery.
