A 2-year-old boy remained in critical condition a day after he was pulled from a North Lauderdale pool as new details about the near-drowning were learned.

The boy had been found in his family’s pool in the 6600 block of Pebble Beach around 10 a.m. on Sunday.
Broward Sheriff’s Office officials said deputies and North Lauderdale Fire Rescue arrived at the scene and found the boy in the deep end of the pool.
They rushed him to the hospital in critical condition, and on Monday his condition hadn’t changed.
North Lauderdale City Manager Michael Sargis said Ring camera footage showed that the child was in the pool underwater for about 10 minutes.
An adult male in the home pulled the child from the pool and started CPR before he was rushed to the hospital, Sargis said.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
The incident is the latest case in a recent string of drownings or near-drownings in South Florida and throughout the state.
On Thursday, officials said a 2-year-old boy died after drowning in a lake behind his Plantation home.
In late June, a 14-year-old died after swimming in a lake near his Florida City home.
The Florida Department of Children and Families reports that 71 children have drowned in Florida so far this year.
