It was around 4:02 a.m. when Hollywood Fire Rescue responded to the 5200 block of Wiley Street for a report of a residential fire.
There, fire crews learned that “a portion of the home had been intentionally set on fire” by a man in his 40s with “severe mental illness,” Hollywood Fire Rescue said.
The man refused to leave the home, prompting “an extended standoff” with law enforcement.
