A man was rushed to the hospital and a person was detained for questioning after a shooting in the parking lot of a Walmart in North Lauderdale on Tuesday, officials said.

The incident happened shortly before 12:30 p.m. outside the store at 7900 W. McNab Road, Broward Sheriff’s Office officials said.

Deputies responded and found the man who’d been shot, and paramedics took him to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, officials said.

One person was detained for questioning, officials said.

A bystander said a witness told him the shooter was a woman who was trying to fend off the man’s advances.

““When I came, there was police officers everywhere and I did hear a woman screaming and crying, and she was saying something but it was incoherent to me, what she was saying,” Damon Anderson said.
