Leisnier Garcia appeared before a judge Monday with his right arm wrapped in a bandage. He was arrested after police say he repeatedly stabbed his girlfriend following an argument.
According to an arrest report, the victim had rented an Airbnb for Garcia on Father’s Day. At some point, she received a text message from the father of her children, which investigators say made Garcia jealous.
Authorities say the two began arguing, and the woman told Garcia that she no longer wanted to be in a relationship with him.
Police said the pair returned to the Airbnb to gather their belongings and leave. While driving home, Garcia allegedly decided to sit in the back seat of the vehicle, which the woman found unusual but did not question because they had just argued.

Investigators say that once they arrived at their destination, Garcia pulled out a knife and stabbed the woman more than 30 times.
Despite her injuries, police say the woman was able to escape and call for help.
Investigators also said the victim told them Garcia had tried to assault her before.
Garcia was charged with attempted felony murder and is being held without bond.
