Reinier Sanchez Hurtado, 46, was charged with dealing with stolen property.

According to Medley Police, on March 3, a criminal investigation was launched after officers received a complaint from FedEx security about thefts that had been happening since 2024.

Part of the thefts involved high-end Nike footwear shipments that were supposed to go to retail stores throughout Miami.

FedEx security did their own investigation before calling law enforcement, and they placed GPS trafficking devices inside shoe boxes, which were then tracked to Hurtado’s home.

During the investigation, FedEx concluded that Hurtado was allegedly working with two other suspects, who were all employees who stole about $36,000 worth of merchandise.

An arrest report said Hurtado was responsible for supervising drivers assigned to affected delivery routes through a facility in Medley.

Hurtado was then stopped by Miami Beach Police for a routine stop, and Medley Police detectives were alerted that he came in contact with police.

The two police agencies then coordinated and were able to find Hurtado’s vehicle in Miami Beach.
