Multiple roadways were closed or remained closed Friday due to the ongoing brush fires in western Miami-Dade.

The southbound lanes of the Florida’s Turnpike were closed from Okeechobee Road to Northwest 41st Street, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials said Friday.
Miccosukee Police said 8th Street was closed in both directions from Krome Avenue to Mile Marker 30.
In addition, all northbound and southbound lanes of S.R. 977/Krome Avenue/Southwest 177th Avenue between U.S. 41/S.R. 90/Tamiami Trail and U.S. 27/SR 25/Okeechobee Road which were shut down earlier in the week remain closed.
Travelers were urged to use the following detour routes or find an alternate route:

• Head north on U.S. 27/S.R. 25/Okeechobee Road to S.R. 977/Krome Avenue
Southbound:
• Head south on U.S. 27/S.R. 25/Okeechobee Road to Beacon Station Boulevard/NW 106 Street
• Head west on Beacon Station Boulevard to SW 107 Avenue
• Head south on SW 107 Avenue to U.S. 41/S.R. 90/Tamiami Trail to SW 107 Avenue
• Head west on U.S. 41/S.R. 90/Tamiami Trail to SW 107 to Krome Avenue

“Motorists are urged to exercise caution, remain alert for emergency vehicles and personnel, reduce speed as conditions warrant, and follow all directions from law enforcement and posted traffic control devices,” the Florida Department of Transportation said in a news release. “Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, consider alternate routes, when possible, ensure their vehicles have adequate fuel, and stay alert for changing traffic conditions and visibility.”
