Florida Forest Service and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crews were responding to a large brush fire in western Miami-Dade on Monday, officials said.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials said crews were responding to the fire in the area of Northwest 137th Avenue and Northwest 25th Street.

Aerial footage from Chopper 6 showed a large amount of smoke rising into the air from the scene as flames consumed multiple acres.

One section was burning near a group of power lines.

Officials said the fire was upgraded to a first alarm as crews worked to protect “nearby possible exposures.”

Air Rescue crews were also requested to perform water drops, officials said.

No other details were immediately known.
