One person was killed and multiple others including a Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office lieutenant were injured in an explosion and fire at a county facility in southwest Miami-Dade on Monday morning, officials said.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials said crews responded to the facility in the 6100 block of Southwest 87th Avenue in Sunset.
The location is a county repair facility where fire truck maintenance is performed.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Chief Ray Jadallah said crews responded and found a fire coming from an underground fuel vault.
Crews worked to bring the fire under control and were able to get it stabilized, Jadallah said.

Miami-Dade Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz said one person was killed and three others were hospitalized, including a sheriff’s office lieutenant.
The three who were hospitalized were in stable condition, Cordero-Stutz said. A fifth person suffered minor injuries and didn’t want to be hospitalized.
Officials haven’t released the identities of anyone involved.
The state fire marshal was responding to help determine the cause of the explosion, officials said.
