A suspect accused of a fatal shooting in Sunrise was arrested on Wednesday, police said.

According to Sunrise Police, at around 12:18 a.m., officers arrived at the 8800 block of Sunrise Lakes Boulevard after receiving reports of shots that were fired.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a victim who was pronounced dead.

Authorities said the shooting was an isolated incident and that there was no threat to the public.

NBC6 spoke exclusively to a man who said the victim was his 70-year-old amputee.

He said that someone showed up at their front door while drunk and shot the victim.

The roommate said the victim was Winston Murphy.

“He opened his door to anybody, everybody, whoever needed help,” he said. “Whether you’re homeless, whether you’re unemployed, whether you’re on the streets, whether you didn’t do nothing with your life.

Authorities have not released the names of the suspect or the victim.

An investigation is underway.
