According to a Gofundme page, 47-year-old Eric Alan Hirt, known to many as Eson from the Miami Style Graffiti group, was killed after being struck by a Brightline train in May.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said that on May 13, deputies received reports of a person who was struck by a train in the area of 11420 Peachtree Drive.
Deputies said that a man was walking on the train tracks when he was struck by the train, and he was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Deputies did not identify Hirt as the man who was killed.
At the event in Wynwood, a portion of the proceeds from the opening of a new solo exhibition by Crome, who is a founding member of the MSG, will benefit the family of Eson.

“He’s been a well friend, a good friend of mine for a long, long time, and it’s so hard to like see him gone right now, and it’s still not real to myself or to the crew,” Crome said. “I mean, we thought he was like untouchable, and it’s still unreal to us.”
The event brought collectors, artists and longtime members of the graffiti community.
Organizers also said that artist Pitbull will match the funds raised for the family.
