The body was found on the beach near New Mexico Street around 8 p.m. after someone had called 911.

Hollywood Police said Thursday that they’ve identified the 30-year-old woman and were working to make next of kin notifications.

It appears the woman had been snorkeling or diving earlier Wednesday in the area of Dr. Von D Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park, police said.

Witness Emilio Benitez lives nearby and said he saw the moment the body was found.

“Two fisherman were fishing right off the beach and I saw them from my window pulling something, then I saw them drag something onto the shoreline. And it turned out to be a lady’s body,” Benitez said.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officials are assisting in the ongoing investigation.

Detectives are asking anyone who was in the area and may have seen something to call police at 954-764-4357.
