A man who was killed in a violent crash in West Park that split a car in half has been identified as traffic homicide detectives continue to investigate, officials said.

The crash happened shortly before 10:20 p.m. Saturday in the area of Southwest 46th Avenue and Pembroke Road.
Broward Sheriff’s Office officials said the driver of a 2018 Honda Accord was trying to make a left turn when they were struck by a Tesla Model Y in a T-bone type collision.
The impact caused the Accord to split in half and left the drivers of both vehicles and five passengers, including a child, hospitalized.

A passenger in the Accord, identified as Edger Surles, was later pronounced dead, officials said.
The survivors suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Surveillance footage showed the aftermath of the crash as debris was scattered across the crash scene.
