A 78-year-old man is OK after a baby alligator bit his calf while he was standing in a lake in Pompano Beach on Wednesday, fire rescue officials said.

According to Pompano Beach Fire Rescue, the man was releasing his turtle back into the lake, and while he was standing about knee deep in the water, a baby alligator nipped his calf.

While the bite didn’t break his skin, the man called 911 to be checked out, and fire rescue crews arrived at his home and evaluated him.
