A teacher at a South Florida high school was arrested Monday and accused of engaging in an inappropriate sexual relationship with a student, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect is 53-year-old Michael Enriquez, who is listed as a science teacher at American Senior High School on the school’s website.

According to the sheriff’s office, Enriquez began having conversations with a 17-year-old female student last year, and those conversations turned to sexual acts.

Authorities said he continued the sexual relationship with the student until May 2026, after the student had turned 18.

He is facing charges including unlawful sexual activity with a specified minor, lewd and lascivious touching, and offenses against students by authority figures.
