Maximo Vasquez, 43, was arrested Saturday on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery, strongarm robbery and false imprisonment, according to jail records.

Further details of the arrest weren’t available.

“The City of Miami Department of Fire-Rescue is aware of an incident involving a 16-year veteran firefighter who was arrested Saturday by the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office,” a fire department spokesperson said in a statement Monday. “At this time, we have not been in contact with the individual. Once contact is established, the department will initiate a thorough internal investigation in accordance with our policies and procedures.”

Vasquez had been arrested in June of 2025 on charges of assaulting a police officer or firefighter, disorderly conduct, resisting an officer without violence and misuse of 911 after he was accused of assaulting a fellow first responder while trying to report that his wife was missing.

Video obtained by NBC6 showed the tense encounter.

According to an arrest report, Miami-Dade deputies responded to a location in Miami regarding a missing person and met Vasquez, who was “visibly irate and shouting” about his missing wife.

At one point, he allegedly threw a case card at a deputy, the report said.

“My wife is missing, this is all I get?” Vasquez said in the video. “F— you, bro.”

The deputies were then seen struggling with Vasquez before taking him into custody.

Court records showed that case was dropped in March after Vasquez completed an advocate program.
